The Club has embarked upon the England Hockey ClubsFirst Accreditation Scheme which is part of Sport England Clubmark Programme. Clubs achieving accreditation will be recognised nationally as working towards providing a ‘Safe, effective and child friendly’ club environment.

The accreditation scheme has four focus areas:
- Duty of Care and Child Protection
- The Coaching Programme
- Sports Equity and Ethics
- Club Management
The Committee has been working towards accreditation for some time now, drafting all the new procedures and paperwork, having volunteers attend courses and those directly involved with younger players, CRB Checked. ClubsFirst requires a number of changes in procedures and practices so that all Teams employ the same disciplines – all should be in place shortly.
The Club already has a robust Child Welfare & Procedures Policy which deals with every area of child protection from injury to bullying and from overplaying to staying away with a team overnight. Fully stocked First Aid Kits [the same for every Team] can now be seen on the sidelines. More Volunteers are playing key roles in the Club and essential work is spread across a number of people making individual roles less ‘stressed’. New Volunteers are always welcome – just speak to a Committee Member or Team Coach if you feel able to assist.
You can download the Child Welfare & Procedures Policy at any time as well as any of the following seven important documents which you should read thoroughly:
